The Parker High Efficiency Vertical Bitumen tanks have been designed and developed to be used on sites where space is at a premium.


Energy costs are high and trends would suggest a continued rise in the longer term. Within the quarrying industry bitumen storage is a significant contributor to energy usage but due to its secondary nature in the day to day operation of a coating plant it may not always be given the attention it deserves. Therefore when purchasing a new bitumen tank thermal efficiency should be an important consideration in the decision making process.

A new Parker High Efficiency Vertical Bitumen Storage Tank can provide significant energy savings and reduce an operation’s carbon footprint. There is an ever increasing focus on the environmental and safety issues surrounding bitumen spillage. Parker ensures its tanks conform to industry best practice guidelines regarding safe handling of bitumen, including safe working capacity, available ullage, accurate contents gauges and high level alarms all of which greatly reduce the risk of spills occurring.

Horizontal Bitumen Storage

Renowned for their durability and long service life, Parker horizontal tanks are available in a range of sizes from 30 - 100 tonnes.

The tanks can be supplied with three types of heating system all fully thermostatically controlled and incorporating all necessary controls and safety systems:

  1. Electrically heated tanks are fitted with high efficiency ceramic bridge full length immersion heaters and are ideal for use where low cost off-peak electricity supplies are readily available.

  2. Thermal oil heated tanks incorporate internal heat transfer coils heated by a Parker external heat exchanger and are ideal where electric supplies are limited or where gas or light oil are the fuel of choice.

  3. Direct oil fired tanks are heated using oil fired burners and can be used in any scenario.

Electrically Heated Option

Utilising direct oil fired heating with fully automatic, thermostatically controlled burner systems and full safety systems.

Suitable for remote locations with limited or no mains electricity supply.

Direct Oil Fired Option

Heated using indirect thermal oil coils, the heat source being provided the Parker CHY oil heat exchanger range allowing great flexibility in the design of a complete installation.

Mobile Bitumen Storage

The Parker Fast Mover Bitumen Storage Tank is the ideal solution for mobile plants such as those used for asphalt, recycling and foamed bitumen applications.

Designed to the highest standards for safe and efficient operation the tank is fully self-contained, and comes mounted on a semi chassis for rapid deployment.

Fully insulated for increased thermal retention it can be offered with three options for heating electric, direct oil fired and thermal oil all of which are thermostatically controlled.

The Fast Mover can be supplied complete with on-board pump and low-level ring main and is designed to either be operated singly or units can be connected together to provide storage for a number of bitumen grades.

ISO Bitumen Transportation Containers

The Parker ISO 20 Bitumen Container is designed to provide the ideal multi-modal solution for the transportation of bitumen world-wide.

Constructed as a standard 20 foot ISO tank container with Lloyd's approval it is suitable for transportation by sea, road and rail and allows a number of containers to be set up to provide a temporary or semi-permanent tank farm on site.

We offer a full installation package to suit individual needs including light fuel oil burners, pumps and pipe work.
