Looking Forward to Another 100 years

Parker Plant is a British manufacturer of crushing, screening, asphalt and concrete plant machinery, having been established in 1911 by Frederick Parker over 110 years ago. Originally located in a workshop under a railway arch in Leicester the first machine built was a stone crusher, followed shortly afterwards by a hand-fed concrete mixer.

Frederick Parker’s vision meant that larger and improved models of these basic machines followed and an acute awareness of market requirements led to further products being added to the range. The continued growth in production resulted in the business moving in 1925 to its then green field 18 acre Viaduct Works site on the outskirts of Leicester city centre. Penetration into new and developing markets around the world cemented the business’ growing reputation and “Parker” became a byword for quality equipment. Parker’s innovative and pioneering spirit was reflected in the first ever tracked jaw crusher produced in the 1930’s and Parker product names were soon synonymous around the world with their type: Loadascreen, Blackmobile, Rockranger, Coneranger, Screenranger, Scrubranger, etc.

Subsequent decades saw considerable growth in the company’s activities. Expansion of the Viaduct Works facility included a new foundry, extended machining and fabrication capability and additional assembly bays. Employee numbers peaked at 1,400 and the introduction of new plant and equipment saw tremendous growth in overseas markets as demand grew for the mobile equipment in which Parker excelled.

In December 2007 Parker Plant was acquired by its current owner, Phoenix Parker Holdings Limited. The Phoenix Parker group includes a number of companies. Phoenix Transworld, a designer and manufacturer of quality mobile and static asphalt plants with output capacities of up to 400tonnes/hr. Cartem, which designs and manufactures a range of bitumen surfacing and bulk handling products. These brands incorporate unique designs for high mobility and balance the supply of high quality batch production asphalt to meet stringent legislative requirements with environmental considerations. In 2014 Phoenix Transworld, Cartem & Universal Conveyors we’re merged into and marketed under the Parker brand.

Concrete plants manufactured by Parker feature many of the same environmental features and are available in capacities up to 120m3 / hour.

In recent years Parker Plant has extended its product range considerably both through investment in product development and by acquisition. Due to market demand Parker Plant has also re‑designed existing product lines such as the world renowned Super-Roadmix range of mobile asphalt plants and the CrushRanger, a self-contained crushing, screening and stockpiling plant.

There are now over 14,000 installations of Parker asphalt, crushing and screening plants in over 90 different countries worldwide.

The last 110 years has seen Parker offer a complete range of both mobile and static asphalt, concrete, crushing and screening, equipment along with conveying and bulk handling systems.

True to Parker’s heritage, culture and the vision of its founder, Parker is moving into the next era with renewed vigour and a range of high quality, complementary equipment, unmatched by any other single supplier within the industry. Heavy investment in the development of a new line of tracked material processing equipment means that the tracked machine range will continue to deliver for the future.
